FROM THE TERRACES TO THE WORLD
British football fans discovered Stone Island while travelling across Europe in the 1980s. The terrace casuals — a subculture defined by wearing fashion labels instead of club colours — adopted the badge as their own. Then Supreme collaborated. Drake wore it. Travis Scott wore it. The grime scene wore it. From Italian Paninaro youth to global streetwear culture, the compass badge became a symbol that transcended subculture.
BORN FROM INNOVATION
In 1982, Massimo Osti engineered a single-digit run of jackets from military truck tarpaulin in Ravarino, Italy. He went on to develop thousands of new fabrics and dyeing processes — creating new possibilities for what clothes could be. Stone Island was never about fashion. It was about material science, experimentation, and function. The compass badge has been the symbol of that innovation since day one.
